The Institute is an autonomous organization established in 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to concentrate exclusively on research relating to the Classical phase of Tamil (from the early period to 600 AD), which addresses the vital issues of the antiquity and uniqueness of Tamil.<\/p>\n
